Exercise your right to move.

Interrogatives

Wilderly is a fitness service business with me (Johnathan Remmy) as its sole personal trainer and natural movement (the methodology of which it is based upon) as its means to alter one’s life through moving naturally.

Natural movement is not so much a practice as it is a description of what a human being is biologically designed to do long before 'fitness' was a notion, and that is: move. But, what dictates that? Breathing is moving, but may not necessarily be done in a natural manner—"natural" in this context refers to breathing that is done by our bodies' original intent rather than by our bad habits. Which, can be acquired through mirrored mannerisms, conventional conformities, poor posture, and so on.

Is breathing as simple as moving naturally, though? Well, yes. Beyond bad habits however, is the constant wake of modernity, the state of societal standards, and the customaries of a culture that have complicated the cognizance of its simplicity. That’s where being trained helps to (re)teach your body the full brea'th of its skill, including swimming, ground positions & transitions, crawling, get ups, gait, lifting & carrying, throwing & catching, jumping, vaulting, climbing, and striking & grappling. Each of these demonstrates the complete spectrum of one’s abilities for use in the real world.

My challenge is to burn down a person's idea of fitness and build up within them a new yet familiar way to interact with the contextual demands of the earth that the human body is intentionally, innately, inherently, intrinsically, and instinctively correlated with through activities such as crawling to pass a low obstacle, lifting and carrying an injured person in the rain or vaulting over a fallen tree in an evasive maneuver (imagine having to do each of those all at once).

Children, animals, and even plants understand that life is sustained through movement, not workouts.

These, indelible, skills are situational responses to both our natural surroundings, of which compel us to become adept, adopted, and adapted to its operational order, and (just as equally pertaining to) the artificially architected environments that most of us are engulfed in, conditioned to, and idled by.

Although, such interactions are not, vastly, presented or encountered within our current world engaging sessions as a holistic part of your life are such that remedially encompass all of what moving naturally is about in a more accessible way; uniquely expressed through the language of your own body no matter who, where or when you are. This is not functional fitness, it's practical. These skills are not goals to a desired result, but to a necessary outcome. This is Wilderly you.

This is an example of what moving naturally looks like demonstrated through the rocking movement. Performed in a repetitive and “static” format this first part is done without any context being imposed. Next is what this movement has been subsidized into (sit-ups) by modern conventions; generally being performed for appearance purposes over its practical counterpart. Although, sit-ups here do serve the purpose of portioning the more "dynamic" sit-up (rocking) movement to suit actions like viewing surroundings, lying down from erection (sit-downs) or lifting a load to a higher position. Shown next is the movement’s various transition possibilities, such as ending in a stand or rocking back down to simply squat, sit or lie.

Do try this at home.

Be imitative not innovative.

With some minor adjustments this skill is made to become the essence of practicality which can be used to break a fall (where performing sit-ups or back and forth rocking alone are unable to applicably extend). Last is the adaptability of the rocking movement shown through a contextually demanding situation. That situation may include holding, and even protecting, an infant. Rocking is the predecessor to various transitions and the successor to, seemingly, less advanced, yet absolutely necessary, positions. Just putting these skills into practice makes sit-ups look not so important, but ever so vital. It makes rocking feel more like a survival tactic than for mere play when practice encounters a real situation. And moving around not just for fitness enthusiasts, but for everyone.

I do not specialize nor am I experienced in training those that have physical or mental disabilities, but I am full willing to learn in an effort to be as accessible, and give as much opportunity, as possible for those whom are perhaps limited by their choices in fitness options; all for free. Because moving naturally equates to everyone, and I would be honored to prove that to the best of my abilities.
